From her years of experience working in museums and galleries in curatorial and registrarial roles, Jamie A. Kwan is conversant with the latest standards in collections management.

She offers cataloguing services, including object file creation, and guidance on art storage/conservation. For larger collections, she also advises on database software and registrarial practices for loans and image rights. With connections to Los Angeles area conservators and photographers, she can provide the best care for her clients’ art.

Curation

Jamie A. Kwan offers curatorial guidance for clients wishing to display their art, be it at home or in a public venue. She also provides advising for clients wishing to expand their collections or explore different types of art.

For clients interested in presenting their collection in a gallery or museum-grade exhibition, she offers a comprehensive curatorial service that walks clients through the entire exhibition process, from inception to installation. Services include, but are not limited to, researching historical context and objects, assisting with loan agreements, drafting proposals, creating labels and wall texts, writing essays for an accompanying catalogue or pamphlets, coordinating with conservators and preparators, and overseeing gallery installation. Jamie also has experience curating and building online exhibitions.

Research & Writing

With over 10 years in academia, Jamie A. Kwan applies a rigorous, scholarly standard to all of her research projects.  She is trained in visual analysis and is well versed in different art historical methodologies. She has extensive experience working with archives and primary sources as well as conducting bibliographic and provenance research.  

Jamie works with clients to answer whatever questions they may have about their works of art. She can build a bibliography or body of research for a collection, provide historical analysis for a work, investigate provenance, or look up artist biographies, exhibition histories, and archives.

In addition to research, Jamie offers writing services, which include creating catalogues, proposals, essays, pamphlets, and labels for client collections.
